What is the Sunday Worship like?

You will be warmly welcomed, but we also respect your privacy. We won’t ask you to stand up and identify yourself as a visitor, and we won’t pounce on you as you come in or as you leave!

Every church has its own style of worship. Our service is a blend of traditional and contemporary Christian traditions. Loud or soft, in monotone or rich harmony, all our praises are music to God as we respond to hearing of his grace in His Word. You might even remember a favorite hymn or song to ask our pastor to use in an upcoming service.

Each week you will receive a Worship Folder when you arrive. The Order of Service is printed on the inside cover. Our services focus on readings and preaching from the Bible where we hear God talk to us. You're welcome to bring along your own Bible and follow along there if you choose.

During the service, tithes and offerings will be received from members and friends. It pays the bills, but it’s also a form of worship. As our guest, you’re not expected to put anything in the offering plate so don’t feel obligated to give.

How should I dress?

Since the Bible presents no dress code, aside from simple decency and Christian humility, Oak Ridge Lutheran Brethren Church doesn't make any rules either. Like most people, our members try to make their worship time at church a special time. This is often reflected in the way they dress.

But dress is a personal matter of worship before God. On any Sunday at our church, you may see running shoes and high heels, jeans and suits, open collars and ties. When a person dresses out of love for God, the choice of causal dress or more formal is acceptable to God... and us.

What happens after church?

You’re invited to join us for coffee following the service in the narthex. At 9:00 AM, we offer Sunday School and Bible Study for all ages; you are more than welcome to attend!

What about my kids?

Children are always welcome at Oak Ridge Lutheran Brethren Church. They can either sit with you, or, if they’re very young (infant -3 years), we have a staffed nursery available during the service. Our pastor will have a special children’s message each week, and your children are welcome to participate in Sunday School.

Where is the church located?

Oak Ridge Lutheran Brethren Church is at the corner of Bongey and 24th Ave. We’re across the street from River Heights Elementary School.

When are the worship services?

Our Sunday morning service begins at 10:30 AM (September- June), 9:00 AM (July- August).

Is the church accessible for worshipers with disabilities?
